Learn the skills of how to prepare artisan sourdough loaves in your home kitchen. This class we will go through all the steps of how to prepare, bake and store your sourdough bread.
This is a hands-on class where each guest will prepare their own dough, measure it out, mix the dough, learn the method of stretch and folding, coil folding, shaping, bulk fermenting, how to score and how to bake a loaf of sourdough.
We will cover what flours to use, how to mix, knead, bulk ferment, shape and bake your loaf. We will also discuss how to care for your sourdough starter once it arrives home with you. As a group we will discuss the science of sourdough, with plenty of time for questions all with the hope of setting you up for sourdough success in your home.
The process uses a slow fermentation method, which yields a loaf that has lower FODMAPS and also lowers the loaves Glycemic Index.
This class is suitable for a novice baker and also those who have previously dipped their toes into bread baking. This is a “no-knead” sourdough bread making method, so you do not need a mixer at home to replicate this recipe. Although if you do have mixer at home we can also cover the method of how to prepare your dough with a mixer.
We will discuss what equipment I have found useful to bake artisan sourdough in a home kitchen.
Inclusions: Fresh sourdough starter, dried sourdough starter, recipe folder, morning tea and lunch.
